The Association was founded in 1984 to further the interests of Castle 650 and 550 owners. Within a month of its formation it had run its first race series. This strong racing orientation continues today with the boats being well represented in state trailable yacht championships and in racing at club level. 

The 550 is now out of production but the 650 continues to be produced by its designer, Steve Douglas, trading as Yacht Works. Geoff and Steve Douglas have turned out close to 140 650's to date. The Association has no affiliation with Yacht Works. This site will include some Yacht Works brochures that we feel are of historical interest.
